The Qatar National Museum is the biggest and most significant museum in the city of Doha. It is well known for its extensive collection of artefacts and relics on the religion of Islam. Due to the museums undying efforts in preserving and presenting these important artefacts, it was awarded the Aga Khan award for restoration of Islamic architecture in Qatar. The museum is housed in a building that once used to be a palace. The Qatar National Museum is also a one stop shop for those who wish to explore the countrys geological history. Following the major renovation project that took place recently, the museum is equipped to offer all its visitors both local and foreign with some valuable and in depth information on each of its artefacts. Positioned towards the eastern part of the Doha Corniche, this exceptional museum also houses a maritime museum and a small lagoon. The museum houses some interesting displays on the architecture styles of Qatar, medals and awards given to the nation by foreign leaders, descriptions on flora and fauna, a special section on oil and gas, a section on Bedouin tribesmen and much more. The unique section on Bedouin tribesmen features their social behaviour, lifestyle and customs while the marine section reveals some important facts on the regions fishing wealth. The model lagoon is the ideal place to delve in to the countrys age old profession which is the Pearling Industry. The museum is open for public viewing throughout the week and is open daily from 8 am to 12 noon and 4pm to 7pm. To understand and explore the historical background of Qatar and the entire region, travellers should head to the Qatar National Museum. This expedition would be made much easier by staying at a nearby well appointed Doha Hotel such as Millennium Hotel Doha.

Your London hotel is near a famous museum. It's almost guaranteed, because London is home to scores of famous museums in a city that is renowned for its history and museums here contain many of the world's incredible artifacts. They've made amends and returned many priceless antiquities to their countries of origin, but London museums are still known the world over for their incredible collections and exhibits. So it is only natural that visitors want to stay close to the array of museums that dot the London landscape. With the help of the Internet, visitors can even coordinate their hotel choice with their museum choices.

Attractions range from Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum to the lofty British Museum, home of the famed Egyptian Hall and some amazing European sculptors. For a more personal glimpse into the past, a visitor could try the Florence Nightingale Museum, Freud Museum, Sherlock Holmes Museum, or Jack the Ripper Walk, which traces the killer's deadly footsteps. The Victoria and Albert Museum is the jewel of the South Kensington area, which hosts a number of attractions and fine hotels. History buffs will treasure the National Army Museum, National Maritime Museum, and Natural History Museum.

If you like spooky old prisons, you've got the Clink Prison Museum, the Tower of London, and the London Dungeon to explore. The art connoisseur will certainly appreciate the Tate Britain Gallery, Tate Modern Gallery, Institute of Contemporary Arts, and the National Gallery. The Design Museum, Clockmaker's Museum, London Toy and Model Museum, and Bramah Museum of Tea and Coffee cater to specialized tastes.

Whatever your preference, there's a first-class London hotel within easy walking distance and numerous tube stations to get a visitor to more distant locations. New booking sites on the Internet allow you to search for a London hotel by neighborhood and proximity to various attractions. A helpful website offers maps, tube station locations, photos, and sightseeing tips to make the most of a trip to London without scouring guidebooks for information. Prices and rankings are important criteria, too, but there's nothing like the convenience of choosing a hotel by location. Your lodging is important, because it becomes a sanctuary for dinner and respite after a long day of exploring the past. In fact, many London hotels are virtual museums all by themselves, offering a glimpse into Victorian and Elizabethan England.

Don't stay too long in that lovely hotel room, because London nightlife beckons. Combine a trip to the West End theater district with a stop at the Theatre Museum near Covent Garden. The possibilities are endless, but your stay in London isn't. So choose a London hotel that allows you to make the most of your time, and keep track of the places you don't visit for your return trip.

Established in 1990, Macau Maritime Museum is located in Mage Street in Macau region pretty close to the Mage Temple. This museum covers 800 square meters of the harbor in the southwest of Macau peninsula where the Portuguese landed for the first time in 1553 and it is an enclosed structure of three levels.

The museum is based on typical museum layouts of Europe and the exhibits of its collection of about 2000 pieces are placed according to the major themes relevant to the history of the maritime industry of china and Portugal. Mostly it exhibits traditional ships and marine equipments of China and a variety of boats by which the Portuguese arrived to Macau. The main structure of the museum has been designed in the shape of a marine boat in full sail which make the impression of a giant boat in the Macau port.

The museum is composed with five main sections such as Fishing industry, Technology, Transport, and Chinese and Portuguese discoveries. The first floor of the museum is dedicated for the traditional fish-cultivation technology of fishery industry of Macau. More over not only models of fishing boats and nets but also some tactics of catching fish are also demonstrated by some scenes. The explorations and geographical discoveries of China and Portuguese are illustrated in the second stage of the establishment. Thus this section is basically focused on the important historical episodes of Macau region. The top floor of the museum houses the display of technology in fish cultivation and navigation and dredging the sea world. Apart from that, a three-dimensional model of Macau region has been put on display in this section. Also the very first light house of China Guia light house can also been observed in this segment.

Furthermore, the museums aquarium consists of four containers which are devoted for different themes of marine life. The first tank exhibits a fresh water riverbed and the second one features the Macau harbor. Amazing coral reef can be seen in the third container while forth one displays the scene of a sunken boat in the sea water. The out side of the museum is the square from which the guests have the occasion to please their eyes with scenery of the harbor and the seashore and also the guests have the opportunity to even set sail on the sea with the wide range of sailing boats offered by the museum.

Macau is truly a paradise for tourists and a heaven for comfort and luxury, the large number of Macau luxury hotels such as Venetian Macau is an obvious testament to this fact.

The National Maritime Museum New Zealand is aptly located at the waterfront, near the Viaduct Harbor. Its a tribute to all sailors through time who set foot in New Zealand, from the very first Polynesian traders to the sailors of today. Maori sailors, vessels and methods of navigation are given their due importance, as one of the most important exhibitions at the National Maritime Museum of New Zealand. There was a time when the seas were uncharted and adventures were found everywhere. The exploits of European sailors and adventurers who sailed these seas are honored here.

Trading, settlement, immigration and commercial shipping of all kinds, through the ages, map the progress of a land in many ways. The history of the land can be traced through these exhibits. Even actions that we might not wish had been done differently are part of our history. We cannot change them, only learn from them and accept them as part of what has made the world what it is today. Whaling and sealing are things that come under the scanner from people all over the world, but it is a part of history and so merits a place at the museum.

On a lighter side, recreation, arts and crafts and sports pertaining to maritime activities, of course make very interesting and diverting displays. After all, the science and precision of navigation, the training and responsibilities of lifeguards and their equipment they are all important parts of the museum, but fun and frolic is a part of it, too.

A museum doesnt just honor tradition and what was and what is through exhibits, especially a maritime museum. There will be documents, as well. This interesting collection of documents include the New Zealand Maritime Index, the New Zealand Maritime Record, Bill Laxon Maritime Library and New Zealand Maritime Firsts, among others.

The museum is also home to the Edmiston and Fraser Collections of maritime paintings, an alluring and enchanting set.

The last, and maybe best, part of the museum are the actual ships that the museum owns, usually tied outside the museum itself. The museum is true to its Maori name, Te Huiteanaui-A-Tangaroa it holds the treasures of the Sea God, Tangaroa.

While the museum reveals treasures from the vast sea, it's not all Auckland has to offer a visitor. If you stay at the Langham Hotel Auckland, one of the best Auckland luxury hotels, you can get a comprehensive itinerary and even assistance with your transport from the hotel to visit all there is to see in Auckland.
